Ritual Making

Public and Private

Ritual Making has been our heritage since we began to take up tools.  We watched the sun travel across the sky from horizon to horizon marking the cycle of a day and the dance of the moon as she paced off the month in mysterious transformation.
We noticed the seasonal march as this magickal moon stepped out thirteen movements ruling the seas and the bloody tides in wimmin each year.  It was a constant, it was a ritual.

The Great Goddess of Laussel dated C. 20,000 B.C.E. is carved in limestone above the entrance of a cave that was both a dwelling place and a place of ritual ceremonies.  One hand points to her pregnant belly while the other holds a crescent with thirteen marks symbolizing “Lady Luna” in the thirteen moon annual cycle.  As in many of these ceremonial caves the female figures are stained with red ochre bringing attention to the holiness of the Mother.  In some of these caves one would have to be on hands and knees traversing vaginal tunnels to arrive at the womb-like area of rebirthing where “passages in life” were honored.
Rituals mark time, they celebrate time.  They are a holy or set-aside space in time that we as humans have written into our very cellular structures.  The simple breath is a ritual.  Breathing in we pause at the top and breathing out we have a pause again.  Rituals are a pause to reflect.  Rituals nourish us, they refresh us, and they enjoin us to celebrate our lives.

Many of us join in faith communities to perform rituals.  But there are some whom in our emerging Aquarian Age are finding that these rituals are not as meaningful for us as they once were.  We are coming to the powerful place of understanding that it is we who create our own stories and the cookie cutter “religious passages” are not fully proclaiming the masterpieces of our lives.
There are many times we are marking passages that could be best savored by a personalized ritual, but where do we start?  Many people have begun to set up personal or family altars in their homes once again, where symbolic images or Novena Candles silently and faithfully bespeak the rituals of the heart, others have formed “circles” of friends and family to share these “doorways” with.   This “medicine circle” was made to send prayers to a young woman suffering with Cancer.  Altars or personal sacred spaces can take on a myriad of styles and modalities.

The Moon Mother is a Ritual Maker.  She incorporates movement, scent, sound, taste and inspiration to empower your Rite of Passage.  A Sister-Priestess for whom ritual has been of paramount importance her whole life, she works with you in small or large passages to create a memorable event for all.  Rites of Passage are not necessarily a leaving behind of the “old self”, but an integrating of the “all self”.  Rituals are not simply celebrations they are perfect for transmuting sad and painful chapters of our lives by honoring the whole picture of our stories.
The Moon Mother utilizes Tarot, Magick, Symbology, Soul Retrieval, Astrology, Merry Making and Ceremony.  She has used Ritual to make many of the passages in her own life as well as the lives of friends and family.
Meaningful Rituals can be extremely simple or elaborate encompassing an artistic expression as in the ceremonies in the Wheel of the Year, where in all faith traditions the adherents cook special meals or make masks/costumes to accompany the celebration.  The possibilities are endless.  In Dan and Jacquie’s family they have special treats, art projects and songs for different times of the year.
Dan (the Moon Mother’s husband) also contributes profoundly in ritual.  Dan DuBois is an exceptional Psychic/Medium/Channeler.  Depending on the Rite of Passage a “reading” would make a memorable contribution to the possibilities that await you.
