No Nonsense Nutritional Counseling

Have you ever wanted to consult a nutritionist and found yourself stymied as to where to find one?  Or baffled as to what you would ask once you get there?  What about when you visit your chiropractor and come home with a redundant food list of dos and don’ts that scream “Unappetizing Bore”.
It’s a maze out there when it comes to food in our culture that’s for sure and if you are not interested in becoming part of the newest craze in food frenzies but just want  to get “back on track” with sound, simple and satisfying nutritional advice you’ve come to the right place.
First off we could use a little paradigm shifting when it comes to our way of looking at our bodies.  In Ayervedic and Chinese philosophy we find that they understand that not everyone is the same.  Not all bodies are tall and thin, the maxim for the American mindset.  Yes, some bodies are meant to be short and stout and all kinds of shapes in-between.  What’s more is that the different body humors respond differently to different food plans.  “Cookie Cutter Food Plans” just don’t cut the mustard and they never really have for that matter.
Most of our history we have not had to be overly conscious of our food plans.  Now that the Television Oracle has dumbed us down with TMI (too much information) we simply have lost our way with all the contradictory advice that is spewed out at us on news channels (of all sources).   It is also important that we take personal responsibility with the fast easy choices that we make in terms of fast food or pre-made products that are available to busy folk now-a-days.  Not only has the home cooked dinner gone the way of the dinosaur, but so has the ritual known as the “family dinner”.

The Moon Mother has a better way, the old tried true way that you remember, the “Meat and Potatoes” way.   Before you boo and hiss the politically incorrect food-twins, hear me out.

It does not take smarts to know that healthy home made snacks that have been the fare of generations are our bedrock.  Hard boiled eggs instead of boxed cereal of dubious content is brain food.  A mid-day tuna or salmon salad sandwich on whole grain bread, snacks of fruit or nuts, coupled with a hearty stew that has been brewing all day in the crock pot mingling the mineral rich content of the soup bone, the beans and veggies.  These are the things we all grew up with (nourishing us thoroughly without the aid of crushed up coral to give us strong bones and teeth).  Unfortunately they are now highly suspect in some food guru corners.  You’ve heard their salvos on the news, you’ve been brainwashed with TMI.  Just tell me, what is the end result of all this bad news about food?  Guilt, shame, confusion?
What can the Moon Mother do for you that others cannot?  Well for one thing you may not even need to consult with her after reading this, you may “re—member” how to eat with none of this non-sense about food fears after just this little short diatribe.  Or you may want to schedule a meeting or hold a class to delve deeper into this simple message.

The Moon Mother is Jacqueline DuBois, a mother of three and grandmother of half a dozen so far.  She has home cooked almost every meal for her family following the example of her mother and her mother’s mother.  She has cooked savory home made soups, stews and casseroles, ground her own grain and kneaded her own bread (Chicken Little Style), boiled her own soy milk,  distilled her own water, made her own soy sausage, incubated her own yogurt, grew, chopped up, sprouted and mushed up her own raw food regime (before it became trendy).   She has juiced till she was blue in the face.  She was vegan before the term “vagan” was used and made tasty treats for finicky eaters even getting desiccated liver into a much loved desert.  She has moved gracefully and graciously from meat to no meat to meeting meat again.  Flowing with the tides of life, finances and wisdom and using the magick of the family gathering to infuse her love spells into those she feeds.  She mastered the art of “Once a Month Cooking” when she had little ones, little time and a little budget.  She has catered weddings, funerals, church/ coven dinners and parties single handedly with beautiful and delicious nutritious meals.  She spent years organizing St. Vincent de Paul’s holiday food drives substituting the white flour fare for nutritious natural ingredients.

Jacqueline is a skilled herbalist and combines her knowledge of “super-foods” with her gift of cooking “supper love potions”.  She  believes that it is more nourishing to add high powered nutritive foods to an existing diet than to shock the family into a strict “food coo”.   Using super foods, (rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins) is the sensible way to nourish our beautiful bodies.  Popping pills does not honor the body’s purposes nor does it always give you what you think you are buying in those “purdy plastic bottles”.   Using super foods and herbs your body receives usable “real food” to build itself strong.
A No-Nonsense consultation with The Moon Mother is by appointment in person or by email for $l25 an hour, please check out payment options. If you are interested in different modes of payment).
