From the macrocosm to man as microcosm, in the center of any spiral is the “calm core” through which man passes to eternity
Walking the Labyrinth is a meditation tool of serenity, a reminder that there is breathing in and breathing out, cycles that continue on for all time. The spiral shows up grand as our galaxy and as sublime as the swirl on a baby’s crown of hair.
The Labyrinth, the winding spiral is an archetypical implant in our very make-up. It shows up in every culture throughout time. The labyrinth creates and protects the center and allows entry only on the correct terms. Entry is thus the initiation on the path of knowledge. Regular meditation on the labyrinth brings one back home to the womb.
The great megalithic Maltese temples were built in the form of the body of the Great Goddess as well as Roman Catholic Churches were in honor of their great goddess the Blessed Virgin Mary, with the entrance into the “vestibule” as symbol of vaginal passageway into the holy of holies, the very womb of the Mother of God.
Walking the labyrinth is a form of “centering” done on your own timing. In other words there is no correct way; you “do” it like you do your own life. You can walk it fast, slow, stop, turn around, linger in the center, or whatever is working for you. The point is that we are powerful enough to create our walk in this Lifetime as we choose. Our choice being the operative word here, no blame can be laid at the door of another. WE are the creators or the destroyers of our own lives.

| As you begin your walk you will notice that the symbols for the directions are around the circumference on the outside of the Labyrinth. You may choose to pause at the energies that you desire to call into your life or simply notice “what comes up for you” at this point. The energies associated with the directions are:
East-Fire, spring, Inspiration, creativity, growth, energy, intuition
North-Water, summer, emotions, relationships, imagination
West-Air, intellect, logic, communication, conflict
South-Winter, earth, material, practical, realistic

Next you will find the planets. These are the parts of our personalities and the people or things we find in our environments when these planets play a role in our lives. They are situated counterclockwise to the corresponding astrological sign they rule.
