| As a young child Dan had no idea that what he was doing was exercising second sight. It all seemed so natural to him to “know” that an Aunt was deeply sad, or to feel physical sensations so deeply. It was not until his late 20’s that the gift had room to expand. At this time he would receive “messages” of events to come. Throughout his 30’s he was considered a “Prophet” in the Christian Church, working with the gift in the constraints of Biblical teachings. | |||||||||||

Moving into his 40’s he underwent a classical “Shamanistic Initiation”. Traditionally the tribal shaman would undergo a severe life threatening ordeal and/or go on a Vision Quest to Sacred Spaces ALL ALONE. In doing so the shaman would partake of the “Wounded Healer” archetype. The test for the efficacy of this trial/quest would be an expansion of gifts or the spontaneous presence of supernatural gifts. Dan’s trial/quest was to last three years. It started one day as he was surfing with his then teenage son at Tressels (a secluded surf break a few miles from the city and any help). At the age of 44 he had a heart attack while in the water. Amazingly he was able to walk the mile out to the street and hail a passerby. Once in the hospital the emergency team struggled with great skill to keep him from dying. He was able to communicate throughout the whole ordeal. He felt and spoke of the “spiral” that was to lead to the door of death three times before the team was able to stabilize his blood pressure, that at that time had fallen to very dangerous lows. The team was successful and after inserting a stent in his right coronary artery he was sent home and sent into an uncharacteristic depression that lasted almost three years. This depression was not a typical one. It was more like a feeling of being between worlds, a lost space for the one who is in it. Dan, nestled in the heart and hearth of the family that he had so faithfully served and loved, spent most of his days in somewhat of an altered state, to this day he remembers little of those years. Unable to re-enter the busy-ness of his “former life” he spent his days taking walks on the beach. Toward the end of this “lost time” he began to re-enter his work life. His excitement for life had returned. Like a relentless Mentor his heart “attacked” again! This time it resulted in a quadruple bypass! There he lay with his heart literally in the hand of the surgeon; his life lived at the other side of the room on the heart/lung machine. Dan has no recollection of an out of body experience. His nurses asked him almost as soon as he regained consciousness. It is the strong belief of both he and his wife that there was nowhere to “go” and that her love and presence with him during that time in their lives kept them present to their lives and the gifts that they are to each other. There was no “desert experience” after this heart event as there was with the first. It was as though this Vision Quest was meant to last the three years and end with the jolt to the body that having heart surgery is! What was clear was that his psychic seeing had taken on an expanded ability that to this day he is still walking into! A great deal of love was poured out to this man, and an understanding of love was given him that he could never have experienced within the “constraints” of his previous belief systems. His psychic impressions expanded to mythic proportions and “visitors” from the other side of that thin veil we call death have been regular experience. He also has an expertise in contacting a person’s guide and in communing with Nature Spirits. A steady stream of people have been invited to come to Dan and Jacquie’s home to have psychic readings. Though this is not a main focus in their lives it is never the less an exciting part of it. There have been many, many wonderful experiences that all have benefited from through these readings. Dan’s main theme is “listening” the inherent greatness of an individual. In readings he normally “sees” past, present and possible future (as future is always the option of the person forming it). He also invites the beloved dead to visit if the “sitter” is comfortable with the encounter. Some benefits of a reading may be clarity in a present situation, guidance in matters where the outcome is unclear, or comfort in knowing that loved ones are still aware of us after death.
