Lovely Lavender

Dear, dear lavender!  It is so very versatile, and so innocent!  It is one of two e.o.’s that does not require carrier oil.  So gentle that my grandchildren’s baby bottoms were swathed with it from newborn bathwaters!  I used to scent my herb shoppe with her and folk would literally follow their noses in!  A drop on the sleeve of a little one is protection with virus fighting odor molecules at the playground.   I taught a summer yoga class close to dusk in a beachside park.  Before beginning class we passed around grape seed oil generous with Lavender to discourage mosquitoes.  It is the main oil in my Wildflower Goddess Crème.  It is a staple in my kitchen used for burns.  St. Hildegard of Bingen was especially fond of Lavender, she said the use of which “maintains a pure character”  The Latin name for lavender comes from Lavare-to wash.  My first exposure to her was a spider bite that was becoming more itchy and red with each day.  My friend sprayed me with a mixture of water, rubbing alcohol and a few drops of lavender.  The itching ceased and I healed from that second on!
